30 Minute Unpaid Lunch

Brothers and Sisters of Local 1194,

Over the past several weeks, our Local has dedicated significant time and effort to researching and building a case regarding the unpaid half hour lunch period. We approached this issue with the seriousness it deserves, consulting extensively with the International Office, our Executive Board, our legal team, and the US Department of Labor.

After a thorough review, and based on the guidance we received from these bodies, we have been advised to withdraw the case. Unfortunately, the US Department of Labor did not support our position, and after multiple discussions it became clear that we would not be able to prevail through this avenue.

While this is not the outcome we hoped for, it does not diminish our commitment to fighting for the rights and fair treatment of our members. We remain united, focused, and ready for the next challenge that comes our way. Local 1194 will continue to stand strong and push back against the ongoing pressures from FirstEnergy.
